A big hello and thankyou to all my new customers who visited my stall at the Haddon Hall Artisan fair. It was a fantastic weekend in a truly stunning and unique setting. New in the shop this week is this tiny solid silver badger charm. He was created using the ancient lost wax technique and as a result he is totally unique. This charm started out as a small piece of modelling wax which was carved into the shape of the badger. The wax is then used to make a mould which is filled with molten silver. During the process the wax is "lost" and replaced with silver, so the original wax model is gone for ever - which in turn means that this badger is truly unique and "one-of-a-kind" The badger measures approximately 30mm from nose to tail and is 17mm high ( including the hoop ) The badger's width is roughly 10mm and he is hallmarked underneath his right front paw.

To celebrate the summer solstice and Midsummer and the launch of this blog I’m giving away a pair of my Neolithic Arrowhead Earrings. The Competition runs from 20^th -26^th of June and you can enter via Facebook – click here!  The earrings are handmade in Derbyshire from sterling silver and are equally suited to a walk on an ancient hill fort or a night out clubbing! The Earrings were inspired by Neolithic flint arrowheads and long walks on the Derbyshire limestone plateaus - where among the wind-blown grasses remains of Neolithic settlements and burial mounds can still be found. The silver arrowheads are hand pierced from silver sheet and then textured and polished. Each one is slightly different, just like the flint arrowheads made by the Neolithic flint knappers. The Neolthic people were experts in arrowhead production and many pieces were created for decoration and for prestige, so in the same tradition my silver earrings are a good choice for a giveaway prize.
